Hi,
I refer to my previous message which is shown below.
As a result of a misunderstanding, the Open Enrollment period has been modified to run for up to 30 days for CRA members who were previously offered MetLife coverage; and up to 60 days for new CRA members. Open Enrollment for the first group begins on 3/15/14 and ends on 4/15/14. Coverage will be effective 5/1/14. The Open Enrollment period for the second group begins upon receipt of the package and ends 60 days later. The effective date of coverage will be predicated upon when an individual enrolls.
For your information I am attaching an announcement letter from Dennis Dauphin and a MetLife letter which accompany the packages that are sent to CRA members who were previously offered dental coverage. In the case of new members they will receive a standard MetLife package.
Letters and packages have already been mailed to approximately 5,000 members and an approximate additional 3,500 are slated to be mailed later this month.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Al Horan

Hi,
Reference is made to previous correspondence pertaining to the Open Enrollment that will be held for the CRA Dental Program with MetLife.
The purpose of this message is to update you on the status of the Open Enrollment. The mailing of the Enrollment Kits to members of Chapters that elected to reoffer the Program have been delayed, in part, because of the late submission of membership data by many Chapters. MetLife expects to make the first mailing of the Enrollment Kits around the middle of March and the second mailing around the end of March. In spite of the delay, members will have a full 60 days from receipt of their Kit in which to decide whether to join the Program.
Where applicable, we would appreciate if you could advise your members about the delay and about the handling of the 60 day election period.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
Al Horan

Hi,
Good news! MetLife has agreed to hold a new Open Enrollment for the CRA Dental Program. The Open Enrollment period that will run from February 1 through March 31, 2014. Enrollment would be available to all dues paying members of CRA. This is important since the last Open Enrollment was held in 2010.
The Program offers members and their families the choice of participating in one of two plans – either the Low Plan (Option 1) that will cover maintenance type services only, or the High Plan (Option 2) that will cover both maintenance type services as well as various other procedures, including restorative protocols. These are group plans and as such they offer competitive coverage at reasonable premiums. A CRA member’s premium will be determined by where they reside. For a summary of each plan as well as examples of how they work, please refer to the attached outline and examples.
As you can see from the examples, the CRA Dental Program offers substantial savings when an individual uses a dentist that is a MetLife preferred provider. The fees agreed to by MetLife and the preferred provider dentists are generally materially less than what an individual would pay if they did not have insurance. These discounts also apply when a non-covered procedure is performed, e.g. a member elects Low Plan coverage and a non-covered major dental procedure is performed. The patient would pay the discounted fee. The power of the CRA Dental Program lies in using a MetLife preferred provider dentist. MetLife has more than 150,000 participating dentists. You may find preferred providers where you and your members live by visiting MetLife’s website, www.mybenefits.metlife.com.
Dental insurance is important since research has shown that there is a direct link between good oral health and general health. We owe it to ourselves and our families to maintain our health. We cannot overlook the necessity to make periodic visits to our dentists. The CRA Dental Program is a way of making it easier and more efficient to deal with oral health.
As mentioned earlier in this communiqué, the CRA Dental Program will be open to all dues paying CRA members. The primary objective of the Program is to make available dental coverage for CRA dues paying members who do not qualify for Chevron’s Dental Plans. (Anyone who retired from Texaco, Getty, Gulf, Unocal or Caltex is not eligible for Chevron dental coverage.) The second objective is to offer CRA dental coverage as an alternative to Chevron’s dental coverage for eligible retirees because MetLife has an extensive network of preferred provider dentists. (The CRA Dental Program is a non-Chevron Plan. For questions about Chevron’s Dental Plan, please contact the Chevron HR Service Center at (888) 825-5247 between the hours of 6 AM and 5 PM, PT, Monday to Friday.)
An Open Enrollment kit plus a letter from the Association President, Dennis Dauphin, will be mailed by MetLife to each dues paying member for whom we provide a name and an address. We expect the mailing to take place approximately two weeks before the commencement of Open Enrollment.

Hi All,
Great news, the official announcement and offering of CRA’s Auto & Home Insurance Program with MetLife will be mailed to dues-paying Members on or about November 9.
We are very excited about this Program. It offers material discounts that are over and above those that are typically found under individual policies. Plus it provides further discounts based on years of dues-paying membership in CRA. To continue to receive these discounts individuals must remain dues-paying Members. Believe me when I say the discounts are substantial – one of our Members was able to get a 50% discount on her auto insurance.
We would encourage you to make sure that your Members are aware of this exciting Program and the upcoming mailing. We also would like you to encourage Members to look at the discounts that are available. Remember, they are not obligated to switch to MetLife. Also all quotes are free.
With your help and support we are hoping that the Auto & Home Insurance Program plus the Dental Insurance Program plus the literature and assistance that we provide our dues-paying Members will encourage individuals to maintain their membership. We also hope that these Programs, literature and assistance will help entice other retirees to join CRA.
Please remember this is just another way in which we add value to CRA membership. If you have any questions please let me know.
